A calm and caring cocoon where every child and young person reaches their true potential

Our Vision

We envision a world of mental health and wellbeing equity:

a world where counselling and therapy is appropriate, accessible and readily available, and income is never a barrier. That's why our sessions are fully-funded and low cost for children, young people and families who can't ordinarily afford them. Focusing on mental health and wellbeing inequity, our co-produced alongside service ensures we all rise together.

Our future plan? Re-balancing mental health provision through people-powered franchises and training: empowering our families and key community to be the therapists and staff of their local Cocoon Kids branch.

Our Mission

Helping the real you emerge...

Our mission’s simple: for priority children, young people and their family to be as they’d be if their challenges and experiences weren’t a part of their lives. Championing mental health and wellbeing equity for under-resourced families, at Cocoon Kids Priority families are our priority. This community’s especially close to our hearts, as it’s our lived-experience, too.

Our Values

Child and Young Person-Centred  - families always at the heart of everything we do

Open-minded - a safe welcoming non-judgemental space for all

Confidence - empowering you to become your best self

On our doorstep - services in the heart of our community

Open to improvement - growing and developing together

No barriers - an alongside service where we rise together

About us

At Cocoon Kids we follow a holistic Child-Centred, personalised, bespoke approach. We use Creative Counselling and Play Therapy to help children and young people to explore and make sense of difficult feelings, emotions, memories and life's challenges.

Supporting local under resourced* (previously called *disadvantaged) children, young people and their families is close to all of our hearts at Cocoon Kids. Our team have lived-experience of disadvantage, social housing and ACEs, as well as local knowledge. We believe greater equity in mental health and wellbeing promotes improved life-outcomes, social inclusion and greater social mobility, providing a fairer and equal society for all.

Children, young people and their families tell us that it really helps that we 'get it' and understand.

We're Child Development, Attachment, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Trauma Informed practitioners. Our sessions are child and young person-led and Person-centred, but we also draw on other therapeutic approaches and skills to best support each child.
